Cynthia Miller's Macabre Tales

A game I had all but forgotten about finally hit RPGNow and other .pdf stores, the Lovecraftian horror game by Cynthia C. Miller, Macabre Tales.

I have downloaded and read through the sneak peek preview booklet and I'm likely to pick up the .pdf for review just as soon as my terrible finances improve enough to allow frivolous purchases again.

I guess the mot noteworthy aspect of Macabre Tales is that it is intentionally different to Call of Cthulhu, perhaps more so than any other Cthulhu Mythos game to come out in the last few years...  And if you've been keeping track you'll know there's a few of them now.

I'm not sure about using dominoes instead of dice, but I've used cards and stones and poker chips, so I guess dominoes is fine too.

For me, I suspect the one-on-one gaming element is the most intriguing.  I know a lot of players dislike "Lone Wolf" play, and Macabre Tales uses it as the default.  Myself, I've had more successes with single player campaigns than failures, so again I think I'm fine with it.

Miller has stressed throughout the games long development that it is intended to play a certain way and if that means a lot people are turned away, so be it.  I like the moxie, I just hope I like the game.  Regardless, it will get a review here as and when I pick it up.  For any Call of Cthulhu fans out there it might be worth looking into.
